Join us in November as we celebrate our new show, "Pink Bunny" by Maiko Kikuchi. This is our last exhibition of the year and our final show at 40 Wooster St before we relocate and reopen in spring 2025.

We're excited to announce a run of live performances of ‘Pink Bunny,’ a mesmerizing exploration of daydreams brought to life by Maiko Kikuchi (November 1st – November 23).

‘Pink Bunny’ (2024) is a modern revival of Kikuchi's original show, which debuted in 2014, and will run alongside her exhibition at NowHere from October 24 through November 24.

Combining puppetry, animation, and visual storytelling, Kikuchi creates a vivid, dreamlike universe where the boundaries between fantasy and reality blur. Drawing on her unique upbringing as the daughter of a psychoanalyst in Japan, she delves deep into the subconscious to bring these visions to the stage.

Kikuchi's understanding of the unconscious mind, influenced by her psychoanalyst father, helped shape her innovative approach to storytelling.

From solo puppet shows like ‘Daydream Anthology’ and ‘No Need for a Night Light on a Light Night Like Tonight’ to large-scale collaborations like ‘9000 Paper Balloons’ at Japan Society, Kikuchi has built a diverse body of work. Her ability to traverse the realms of fine art, theater, and animation has made her a standout figure in contemporary puppetry and performance art.
