Liz Slagus is the Director of Public Programs + Residencies for the NY Hall of Science (NYSCI), where she engages audiences of all ages in STEM using workshops, festivals, art projects and artist-scientist collaborations as platforms for exploring new technologies, current scientific research and innovative design thinking. As a cultural producer, Slagus founded SexEd (www.sexedproject.org) with a background in art and technology education, public programming and community engagement. In 2014, Slagus was awarded the prestigious A Blade of Grass Fellowship with SexEd’s Co-director, Norene Leddy, for their project, “Wearing Consent,” a collaboration with an NYC high school and health center. In 2009, the State Library of Queensland awarded her the Creative Fellowship for Art & Technology to develop the programming and outreach strategy for Brisbane’s new digital culture center, The Edge. Between 1998-2008, Slagus developed and managed Eyebeam’s education and public programs, exploring new teaching and learning techniques and models for engagement. Slagus holds a BA in Art History and Anthropology from Bucknell University and an MA in Visual Arts Administration from NYU.

CHiKA

She received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts and her Masters from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. As an educator, she is the founder of the projection-mapping and LED pixel-mapping workshop, Mappathon™.
